This site is for family and friends with photos as well as some scrapbook pages.
I have another site,http://chinadollscrapping.weebly.com where I have been posting all the layouts I create using my digiscrapbooking programs and kits. However, I now want to separate the layouts I make for the designers as advertising, from the layouts I make for family albums. Most of the pages will be the same, but here you will only find family albums. I hope my family will enjoy this different look into our family life. I also post pages at Scrapbookflair.com scrapbookflair.com/China_Doll

I'm also on facebook at www.facebook.com/vivian.krigline  (I can't get the links to work at the top of the site)

New section for a new challenge

With encouragement from a friend, I started a new 'challenge' for myself in December. I found a scripture writing page on Face Book, so I've decided to give it a try. Not only to use my digital scrapbook materials, but also to actually write in my journal. Here are some of the pages I've made so far.

2026

2026 Already!!!  Fortunately, right now it is only March. We spent the last two week of February in the UK and Italy.  Photos coming soon. January was very cold and we had two weekends of bad winter weather -- one ice, the other a bit of snow. Now it's March and the pollen is starting to come in.
Our first stop was the UK for a conference and meetings with friends. But the next stop was amazing. Italy. See Rome in a day! Then Florence in a day, before coming back home.

2025

2025 started off full-steam this year, as Michael was to travel to Hong Kong and Malaysia the middle of January for two weeks. I stayed home and dealt with car trouble and very COLD, snowy weather. Lots of other things have happened with family this year too! Including a trip to Florida to see Michael's Uncle & Aunt, along with a few of his cousins. We visited Tallahassee, Lakeland, St Augustine, then stopped at Tybee Island, GA. At the end of June and on July 4 we were with family in Georgia and at home. The end of July sent us back to Ohio for a 2 weekends. Between the Sundays, we went to the Cincinnati area to see the Creation Museum, along with a lunch ride on the Ohio River and a few stops at places we found along the way. The first of August, we celebrated birthdays and our 36th anniversary back in Columbia, as we prepared for the new school year.
I'll catch up with September through November soon. We did take students to Hilton Head over Thanksgiving, while doing our Christmas decorating the weekend before. Christmas was very busy at  home, but the day after, Hubby and I took a short trip to Alabama to see a special Christmas concert and be with his mom for a few days.

2024

The beginning of another year is upon us! Michael and I decided to take a day trip to Folly Beach, SC to see what we could see of the Morris Island Lighthouse. I haven't been to Folly Beach since I was about 10 years old, and I found the beach beautiful, but very crowded with young adults. Still a beautiful way to start the year...just me and my guy!  February finds us going around the world again, this time to Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. This is a trip I never thought possible. See more under Highlights Year 2024 Pacific Trip. March (2024) brought Michael's Maverick truck he had ordered 18 months ago! He was so excited and the truck is beautiful. We have given it a good run this year as we took it on all our trips so far (see below).  April and May were sort-of normal. We did take the Grands to Tennessee for a couple of days just as school was getting out for their holiday trip. This was our first time at Dollywood and we all had a great time.  Then in July, Michael and I took another "adventure of a life-time" to the Northeast USA. We drove this time with our destination and turn-around spot being Maine, with lots of stops both going and coming back. (pictures coming). Then in August, we celebrated birthdays and our 35th Wedding Anniversary! The trip to Maine was considered our big anniversary trip. Our work with IFM in person started back up the end of August. That weekend, the first of September found us on the road again, this time for our church regional conference at Ridgecrest, NC then a short trip up into Tennessee. Michael wanted to see if his truck would really haul a small camper, so he found a rental near where we wanted to go. That was an adventure for both of us, as I haven't been "camping" in forever and a lifetime or two ago. Michael found a very nice campground near a National Park he worked at when he was in college. It was a fun trip down memory lane for him and I enjoyed our day at Dollywood.  The end of September took us back to Ohio for several meetings with friends. While we were gone, Hurricane Helene decided to blow through Florida and all the way up through Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and hit the North Carolina mountains with terrible flooding. Our neighborhood was without power, though little damage, for two days, whereas other parts of the area took over a week to have trees cleared and power restored. Family made it through without any trouble but we were glad to get back home to clean up the garden and gather some donations for NC.I told you it was a very busy year! Thanksgiving in November had us escorting a van of students to Hilton Head for the Thanksgiving weekend, the in December just before Christmas, we took 6 students for their first trip to Dollywood, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge. We spent Christmas week at home, with the family here on Monday. We will close out the year with Michael's family. (More photos are in the pages above).

2023

Here we are, already well into 2023 and I haven't done anything to update this site. I'll try to catch up with photos under the Highlights/Years tab.
January - Right around and after Christmas, both Michael and I came down with a noticeable case of COVID (again). It took us a couple weeks to get over it this time. In February, the family welcomed a new little one to Philip & Bethany's family. By March, the flowers around the yard started to come back out and Michael started clearing out the back yard, with the hopes of putting in a veg garden. We decided not to wait for the garden plot to be ready to start growing tomatoes, so the I took the kids to the garden shop and we came back with two plants just about ready to put out blooms. We have all enjoyed the little tomatoes and a few larger ones this spring into summer.  During the April school break, we took everyone up to Carowins on the NC/SC border for a day for rides and a bit of fun. The fun lasted until a thunder storm shut down the main ride Beth and Christy wanted to be on, and when it took us over an hour just to get an icee. But inspite of that, the kids had a great time. May brought the school year to a close for the summer.  Christy performed in her school's band concert. She also participated in one of the church's drama group, which got a superior rating. Now her group gets to go to the National competition this August in Ohio. Later in July, Michael and I embarked on our great adventure to the UK and Europe. Photos are here:  chinadollphotos.weebly.com/2023-july-to-europe.html
As we were celebrating my birthday and our anniversary the first week of August, we received word that Michael's sister had slipped away. Her battle with cancer was over. The weekend of the 12th of August was a special day, as Michael and several friends planned a huge birthday celebration for my 70th. While I knew about the party, and knew that our son and his wife, and Michael's family would be here, I was not expecting such a special number of friends from all parts of our life. I'll figure out want happened the rest of the year when school starts back for the kids later.

2022

Now we are into another new year. Unfortunately, we started this year out with colds or Covid for all of us, but we all quickly recovered. We did have a smattering of snow in January! The school year for Beth and the kids is going well and Michael's work has become more complicated with a new refugee English program. Also, the year has already started with the loss of two more friends I worked with at City Hall. Mr. GC Robinette, Jr left us after 94 years in January but the weather was too bad that the family had to postpone his memorial service until February. Then on March 2, my friend and former co-worker, Peggy M completed her battle with cancer. On March 12, while visiting Kevin, Fran and Elise in Newnan, I complicated our lives even more by falling and breaking my ankle. There was another deep freeze in the south this weekend that killed a lot of the spring buds, like on my dogwood trees and azaleas.
Spring Break 2022 - April 10-16  Beth and the kids went with Vicki and family to Orlando. See their photos here:chinadollphotos.weebly.com/spring-break-2022-april.html

2021

This was another very busy year. See the photos in the Highlights by year section. The most important event was our buying a house in the neighborhood we lived in before China. While only Beth and the kids had a mild case of COVID, we had lots of colds and flu and other illnesses in the family this year. In October, Michael's Mom (Elise Krigline) decided to sell her house in Ohio and move to a retirement community in Newnan, Georgia. She completed the move in record time, and moved into her new apartment in December.

We also lost several more dear friends this year. A dear friend and coworker from China, Sue Brown passed away early February in Xiamen, China (she is from California). She and her husband, Bill have been friends during the time we worked in China, especially the 5 years we were in Xiamen. Also taken from us too soon, was our dear friend, Pastor Dave Philips when he had a major heart attack in October. Pastor Gabe Orea from our church in Xiamen was taken from his long time fight with cancer in November.

We spent Mother's Day in Georgia with Michael's family. We met the two of the youngest Kriglines (Henry to Alan & Holly and Frannie to Clair and Juan). Philip & Bethany had little Asher in October, so the family continues to grow. Kathy and Ed were able to get to Australia this year after months delay for Ed work.

2020

2020 - As for most everyone, this year has been far from normal. I'll catch up with it soon. Michael has been busy with his work with JHF in HK and the ministry with International Friendship Ministries and International Festival. I've become full time day care for the grandchildren this year, especially when schools closed in March.  I'll put some some photos of what we've done soon. While, we are grateful that our family has remained well and safe through this "covid year", we did loose several friends; one was our dear Pastor Bob Shearer.

2019

We were back in the US for Christmas 2018 and January 2019, attending a conference in Oregon. This was my first time to see the Pacific Ocean from the US side. We asked a young couple to help take our photo (the first one below) with the ocean in the background. They asked where we were from, and we pointed across the ocean and said "over there". We then explained part of our complicated life of being from SC and Ohio, but living in Hong Kong. It was a great conversation! I also had to return to SC because of a crisis with Beth and the kids. The started the end of our work directly in Hong Kong by the end of the year. However, Michael was able to continue to be very involved with the HK office and with the organization for int'l students here in Columbia.
I posted my album from the Israel Trip under Highlights/Years 2019 Israel Album: chinadollphotos.weebly.com/israel-2019-album.html
March 2019, Michael and I were blessed to travel to Israel with our friends from First Friends Church in North Canton, Ohio. See the photos and pages under Highlights!

2018

Well, this was another emotion-filled year, as I (Vivian) had to make several trips back to the US because of Mom's health. She took her last breath on August 20, 2018. Photos and highlights are in Highlights for 2018. Andrew and Laura got married in early August and our nephew, Philip and Bethany got married in September. Later in November, my cousin's wife, Ann, suddenly passed away. 2018 was a memorable year for good things and sad things for our family.
I'll put the 2017 family photos here soon.
We took a trip to Taiwan for Christmas 2017 and those photos are in the Travel - 2017 Taiwan
Enjoy!!

2017

Welcome little Caroline Grace Lagasse - July, 2017
On Easter morning, April 17, 2017, Michael's father, Alan G Krigline, passed away in North Canton, Ohio. We were on a short vacation with Beth and the kids in Greenville at the time. Michael left on Sunday to be with his family for the memorial service. Later, when we returned to North Canton, Michael and his Mom placed Alan's ashes in the church yard.
We spent some time with my family over Easter weekend, in South Carolina.
We also spent Christmas 2017 in Taiwan with dear friends, Rick and Barb Beard.

Yes, some of the photos are taken from the windshield of the car, but, hey, that seems to be normal for our trips. So enjoy the rest of our journey. Trip to England and Europe - August/September 2016
